Working Supervisor – Industrial Refrigeration & Air Conditioning

Are you an experienced refrigeration professional looking for your next step into leadership? This is an excellent opportunity for a Working Supervisor to join a respected refrigeration and HVAC specialist, supporting a team of engineers across the North West.

 

As a Working Supervisor, you’ll have the opportunity to combine your technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, supporting engineers on-site while also helping to coordinate service operations from the office. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with ammonia experience who is ready to progress into management.

 

You don’t need previous supervisory experience to succeed as a Working Supervisor. If you have strong technical knowledge, a positive attitude and the ability to support and motivate others, you’ll receive the development and support needed to grow into the role and progress your career further.

 

The Role

As a Working Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the service branch. You’ll work closely with engineers, customers and management to ensure refrigeration and air conditioning services are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

 

This is a hybrid position, with a weekly split between office-based planning and coordination duties, and hands-on support in the field. When working on-site, you’ll act as the lead engineer, providing technical guidance and assisting with challenging installations, maintenance and repairs.

 

You’ll initially support a team of engineers, technicians and apprentices, helping to ensure excellent customer service, efficient job completion and strong team performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of service engineers, technicians, apprentices and trainees.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on assistance with refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Service, maintain, repair and commission commercial and industrial refrigeration plant.
  • Support engineers with fault finding, diagnostics and technical challenges.
  • Help plan workloads, allocate resources and ensure jobs are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Assist with estimating labour requirements and preparing customer quotations.
  • Monitor work progress and maintain control over ongoing jobs.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Provide engineering support to maximise service efficiency and customer satisfaction.

 

What We’re Looking For

To be successful as a Working Supervisor, you’ll be an experienced refrigeration engineer who is ready to take the next step in your career.

 

You’ll ideally have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a refrigeration service engineer or technician.
  • Strong experience working on commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience is essential.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • The confidence to support, guide and motivate a team.
  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.

 

Previous experience as a Working Supervisor or formal leadership experience is desirable but not essential. This opportunity is designed for someone who has the technical ability and ambition to step up into a supervisory role.
